Tabletop (TRPG), original and quintessential role-playing game format.

Live-action (LRPG), Larp is a subset under this format.

Electronic (ERPG), includes any RPG that requires electricity to play.

Hybrid (HRPG), catch-all for all the other variations blending the above and other variations.

According to the Hawkes-Robinson RPG Model there are 4 major RPG Formats, with many subformats therein as per this evolving diagram.
